The Mizen Goldsmiths

Welcome

Just past The Crookhaven Inn is a unique little shop where Bavarian-born goldsmith Edda Zierer-Zitzelsberger creates bespoke jewellery and pieces inspired by our stunning coastline.

Edda took over from Jorg Uschkamp who worked here for 20 years and retained the spirit of his creations with her work.  She uses the finest materials from yellow gold to platinum, with diamonds and beautiful coloured stones, or sometimes in combination with precious woods.

With occasional help from her parents, also goldsmiths, Edda will make up bespoke pieces from her customers’ ideas as well as creating her own beautiful designs in her village workshop.

Mastermade Jewellery in Crookhaven

In the winter, a cosy fire and peaceful atmosphere make it a haven for locals.

Drinks, food, music & much more!

In the winter, a cosy fire and peaceful atmosphere make it a haven for locals.

The pub claims to serve the most South Westerly pint in Ireland.

The business has been run by four generations of O’Sullivans.  Patriarch Sonny O’Sullivan bought it in 1933 and it has developed and expanded over the years as the needs of the village became apparent.

Back in the day, it was divided into a lounge bar and a public bar run by Sonny and his wife Elizabeth, known affectionately by all as ‘Mother’.

They had five sons – Pat, Billy, Sean, Dennis, Finn and Joe and a daughter, Elsie and eventually Billy took over the business and ran it with the help of his wife Angela.

Billy and Angela developed the business substantially, introducing food into the pub in the 70s and building a modern professional kitchen.  They also revamped Nottages pub, built a restaurant and added toilets.

Today it is run by Billy and Angela’s son Dermot and his wife, Linda Kennedy with help from Dermot’s two elder daughters Katie and Alex from his marriage to sculptor Alison Ducker who died in 2021 and their little sister Angela, Linda and Dermot’s daughter.

Local fishermen supply the pub and customers can taste fresh vegetables from the garden when they are in season.  O’Sullivan’s serves a good range of hearty pub food

Dermot and Linda have added a pizza oven and in the summer, their other pub, Nottages, serves Spanish tapas.

Part of the business is a small shop beside the pub selling basic groceries, wine and beer, ‘Crookhaven’ merchandise such as beanies, brimmed hats, forage caps, T shirts, hoodies and gift cards all sporting the O’Sullivan logo!
